anybody heard the above soundtrack ? i dont think i have heard a better piece of violin. I have been searching high and low for something similarly melancholic, haunting and sadly beautiful ( in violin, bagpipes, flute, celtic instruments, )

The soundtrack was done by Clint Mansell and The Kronos Quartet. Below are links to both of their available items on Amazon. You might also want to look into a band called Apocalyptica (awesome string covers of songs) and compilations of String Quartet Tributes (there are several for bands like Evanescence, Incubus, Killers, Sarah McLachlan, etc.)

You could try one of Aronofsky's other soundtracks, from what I've heard they are similar as they are composed by the same person whose name escapes me.
