One thing about instruments is that newer technology doesn't usually make them better. A Stradivarius violin for instance was made years and years ago but is worth millions because no one can replicate it's craftsmanship.

Because the new technology is unable to improve the craft man skills of the ones who made the famous "Stradivarius" or "Amati" violins brands which still being insuperable due the quality of the extensive range of sounds produced
My impression is that the technology for making contemporary violins has not changed much from the traditional ways acoustic instruments have been made. Perhaps the means of heating some of the products, the lighting when the work is done, etc., has changed. But the actual making of a good instrument is still, I believe, carved by hand.
