I think you're thinking of "Fire On High" by ELO (Electric Light Orchestra).
The part you're thinking of (where classic rock stations always start it on the radio) is about 1.5 minutes into the song. The beginning's kinda trippy, so they skip it on air, so if you end up hearing the whole thing, listen all the way through to make sure it's the correct song.
