The band Kansas had a violinist. "Dust In The Wind" was a huge hit for them. It had a violin solo.
Dave Matthew Band - Ants Marching

I love my Dave!!
If youre talkin about a slow sort of song then i think either Time of Youre Life by Green Day or Road Trippin by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Yellowcard has a Violinist in the band.

Check out their song "Breathing" it has some violin in it.
Baba O' Reilly - The Who

has a violin towards the end.

The majority I can think of are all Celtic rock :~

Monymusk Lads - Old Blind Dogs

The Corncrake - Deaf Shepherd

Claire in Heaven - Capercaillie

There is also Bond ~ electronic classical

e.l.o. electric light orchestra.. they have good stuff
November Rain by Guns N Roses.

Also check out Metallica's S%26amp;M live album.
guess some people would say yellowcard, but I wouldn't suggest it, I don't like them.....

think the other guy had a good idea with something in the way, I like that song. I think theres a band called sound garden that uses violins and eletric violins, but good luck trying to find them (and there not really rock)

Jethro Tull has a flute, might want to try them
